We got ourselves out-of-town this weekend to see some fabulous friends in Kansas City. It’s a trip we’ve been planning, but the weekend choice happened fairly last-minute. And it couldn’t have come at a better time.
I had a bad week, for various reasons that are beyond the scope of this blog. Suffice it to say I was a grumbly, depressed mess. The things that bothered me last week are still in play, so all is not well in Larissa Land. But I’m feeling more refreshed than I have in 5488731498124 days. Saturday night I told Jon that I feel like I’ve taken a long deep breath that has evaded me for some time.
I’m back on my running schedule today, and curious to see how I feel after my week-long running diet. It will feel good to lace up and hit the pavement after work. Although….. I am a huge baby when it comes to cold. I hate it. I swear I am cold-blooded and have ice veins. My bike commute this morning was 43 degrees!
I did just get some new boots that I’m loving, so that eases the transition ever so slightly. But honestly. All summer I’ve routinely used a blanket, pair of socks and extra sweater that I keep in my office. Now I’m brainstorming what I need to survive the winter again. Hibernation. That’s what. Pardon me while I go curl up under a pile of blankets in a dark room with an electric heater plugged in and maybe some candles burning. I’ll see you in May.
As I sit here writing this, I’m looking into another week. It looks long again. It looks like things I need to do or address that I’m avoiding. But I’m a little more at peace and rejuvenated. Maybe not quite ready to go all fierce and tackle everything. But ready to step into my week with surer feet and more confidence than I walked out of the last one.
